Wise Old Sage

Here are the musings of a mind a bit off kilter from the norm,
but, that's what makes him interesting. Doesn't it?

Poetic Dissonance

posted Saturday, 22 July 2006
Crashing seascapes frozen on canvases,
Tempest bottled, sold on eBay for us,
Powers unbound run rampant in cages,
Hurricanes updated on web pages,
So conformed to a regimented complacency,
Nature subdued within its expectancy,
 Who're we fooling?
 What're we doing?
This can't continue for long.

Violence on TV tries not to disturb,
The news shows goodness, the rest to the curb,
The press prints all its lies in black and white,
No room for innuendo, doubt or fright,
Sanitized for your protection, wrapped up in the flag,
No more room for debate, contention is such a drag,
 Freedom to speak,
 Freedom to seek,
This won't continue too long,

Political stump speeches sound hollow,
And yet like calm sheep so many follow,
They talk and glad-hand their way to the polls,
By landslides they win, fill vacuous rolls,
An electorate unrepresented cannot stand,
It won't be long before, disgruntled, they re-band,
 Retake their voice,
 Restate their choice,
This has gone on far too long,

A world so distorted cannot sustain,
Fallacy will wither, truth will remain,
When the dust settles, sanity restored,
Intelligence and peace will find accord,
Those irresponsible responsible ones will pay,
Justice be done on that restitutionary day,
 Balance restored,
 Rebirth encore,
This time we really belong.
