Sand grain and time,
Pain on the mind,
Dark, deep water,
Little bother,
Building goes on,
Layers lay on,
Time passes well,
Grain starts to swell,
Drop of heaven,
Pearl forms as one,
Perfecting flaw,
In tight lipped maw,
Round, white and pure,
Subtle, demure,
Safe from the world,
Single, pure pearl.
Maker laid bare,
Exposed to air,
Gutted and tossed,
Life cut short, lost,
Died to behold,
Orb of white gold,
But at what price?
With one quick slice,
The mother cut,
Her mouth unshut,
What just reward,
Skewered by sword,
All that time spent,
Just to be rent,
Tossed in a pile,
Left in exile.
Strung on a strand,
Company of sand,
Stand in a row,
Distant echo,
What used to be,
No smell of sea,
Now only cold,
Wrap neck, take hold,
Just beauty shown,
Beauty alone,
Round perfection,
Bland affection,
Nothing reminds,
Of grains and times.
